Project 5

This is the final project for this class. For a starter I would like to say that this has been a great experiance. By this time I know that I know very little and that it is easy to continue evolve in many aspects, which I did during this course. Even thou I know that I'll learn something new I'm always amazed from what I learn. Often what all I know is all I think there is to know, even if I know that's not the case it's hard to know what'll be next thing to learn. Therefore the new things you learn mostly come as a shock, and that's why I love to learn, it always keeps amazing me.

I've had one style that I've refined all these years I've been drawing. From this last project I've learned a few new nice things that have replace some older ways in my style. Not only have my style evolved but also my skill in analyzing images, which I thought I was good at already. During the discussions in class I sometimes noticed an observation that was briliant and that I wouldn't have seen if it wasn't pointed out and so I learned a few new tricks to how to discover design errors.

The tools we used for this course is probably the only thing I really knew before the course. I've used photoshop since I my first computer game (which was a long long long time ago) and I've been using it since then. I've also used Flash alot and it is similar to Illustrator and it was very easy to familiarize with the few diffrent controls. Indesign have I been using before so nothing new there. Coral Painter is the only thing that I didn't know and believe my I tried to learn it. I watched Lynda tutorials and played around in the program but I have no idea how any medium works except the pencil which got me very confused when I tried all the diffrent drawing tools. I bet Coral Painter is awesome for someone who already is a skilled painter who knows how diffrent tools work and behave. But for me it was way to wierd.

Now to project 5! The final and most fun project! Why was this most fun? Because I did exactly what I wanted to do. In earlier projects there have been a set of tools or concept we'd have to use/follow. For this project I said: "That's it! I'm going to do what I like, it's always worked before!". And so it did this time aswell. The project is to make a book of 12 pages where we put our images and some text. It was encouraged to use images from the other projects but they did not go well with my style, so I made new images, all of them new. Because of this I have had very little time to do alot of work, to compare: Project 1 was two images in 3 weeks; Project 5 is seven images in 2 weeks. Not only images but since everything is due I have to remake any old images that was not so succesful and write a binder description. So I've had alot to do but I've made it!

The book is about war. Every image tells of one part in a war. Except the front page. The class focus was water so the images have something to do about water, but unfortunately not so much. I am really proud of my work, for once. I just love my style and that I built on it a bit makes it even better. This book is me, it's my style and I love it and I hope you enjoy it to!

Project 4

This project was fun because it was collaborative. The first thing I did when I got home after I got the project explained, was to send an email to the author that I was going to make an image for. A few days later I got a reply and I could start working.

My author had choosen several diffrent topics: How sharks got their terrifying image, Proving that sharks are not so dangerous, The evil methods used to get the sharks fins, Why we need sharks and What you can do to help. This is what he was going to write about, and what I was going to draw an image from.

The sharks fins was the topic that gave me most ideas and after some sketching I send my author three ideas that I thought was great, and I got a quick answer that so did he for two of them. He also gave me a fourth idea, but it would take a long long time to get that one right.

The image then. It's a mean looking shark that is about to chop a hand of a terrified human. This is how men do to sharks to get their fins and then they throw them back in the ocean.

The making of this image was first the shark. This is the original image. To make that look like it's standing up was hard and took a long long time, 4+ hours. Mainly I broke him down in three pieces; head, body and tail, and arrenged them so that it looked like he was standing up. And to fill in the wholes that where created I used clone, spot healing brush, smugde and the lovley eraser.

After the shark was done I made the boat that he stands on, the background and the box the humans hand is on. Those wheren't so hard, just adjust the colors so that they work together better. The human and the hand are two diffrent images and I connected them with the brush tool.

In the end I like my image and I hope my author does to. Now, when I look and analyze it I would like to add a few things. The shark should hold down the human arm with his other fin. There should be bodies in the water to show that the humans are thrown back into the ocean. But this I didn't do because I didn't want blood in my image, I like happy and clean images. The bodies would be repulsive and I dont want that.

Project 3

For this project we had very little time and was ment to be educational. What we did was building an image with junk and the scanned it in. When in photoshop we learned who layer effects worked and our final image should have some of these effects. We could also add colors if we wanted to diffrent parts of the image.

I didn't really have anything to say with the image I built in class so I mainly focused on getting nice colors and effects so this could serve as a nice looking image, and only that. According to me I succeded because I like it. I love the colors and the diffrent textures work together very well. Maybe it's to much textures for me, but it's not way to much and I got most of the things we learnt in there, even Threshold.

Project 2: T-shirt designs

"This is more my style" I thought when I heard what we should produce for this project. I'd love to make a nice design and print my own t-shirts! But then all I could think of had little to nothing to do with water, our main guideline for this course. But still I made two designs I would love to have on my t-shirts.

After I made the Marv and King Leonidas designs I thought I had to do something about water aswell. At that time I played Champions Online and therefore I came up with alot of ideas that included water, deserts and pollution (from Project Greenskin). The designs I did with these ideas was not good at all thou. I could use a maximum of four colors since it would be printed on t-shirts and therefore shadows was really hard to make look good.

Because of the 'max four color' challenge I failed to do something I would wear that had something to do with water. But atleast I had my Marv and King Leonidas designs.

Project 1 - Digital painting

This is so not me, painting. Pencils are awesome because you know exactly how they work, but brushes like to do things their own way. When I opened Coral Painter I knew this would be an awesome tool for someone who'd have experience with all these diffrent type of media, but unfortunatly I found out that this was way to advanced for me. I watched several diffrent tutorials of how to draw diffrent things; water, sky, clouds and stuff. But my right brain would not help me here, I've been ignoring it to long and not it's mad at me. So my left brain help me as usual, but it really did not get anything I watched, it was all greek to it. It didn't take to long to find a solution for this problem, Photoshop.

Draw a few shapes with paper and pencil, scan in and fill it with color. Not the best solution but atleast I could do it. I am not proud of what I've done, I know what's good looking and not. Vesharr the Battle Master is okey, but when I look at what I want to accomplish I see an unreachable goal. Painting will never be my strong side but I look foward to the following project!

What I should do: I should do a total remake for both of my images. I should put more 'me' into those images. Maybe they'll be even less painterly but atleast they will be good looking.

Vesharr, the Battle Master
The demon won't be up until it's finished.

Artwork I would love to be able to draw:
Best artwork all time: Guild Wars 2
These are great aswell: World of Warcraft

My games

These are my flash games. They are all about Nemi, a happy smily who likes stars. The games are still under construction, but when I'm done with achievements and a few enhancements I will start make more games.

Desktop image

This is a desktop image I've made for a contest at school. I got inspiration from a few wallpapers from wallbase and made the image in Photoshop.

This is the first wallpaper I got inspiration from. It is a nice image but what I really loved was the lighthouse on the moon. They merge perfectly together to create a good looking shape that defies logic. I just had to have that in my image.

This is the second wallpaper. I had already decided that I should have a tree instead of a lighthouse, so this image just showed that the tree and moon could be white instead of black.

This is the third wallpaper, and it's from this image that I got most inspiration from. I wanted a rainbow in my picture so I searched wallbase for rainbows, and so I found this image. It was a nice looking rainbow, so I wanted one similar to that one. When the rainbow was done my image lacked details, so I created a sun effect and that really made a big change. When that was done I still though that it lacked details, so then I created the round shapes.

After a few color adjustments this is the final result!

Earth Elemental

I want to become a writer, but I never finish my novels. So instead of writing novels, I write short stories. These short stories are about people, things or events mentioned in the novels. For example the Earth elemental, it's my favorite. The elemental is summoned on a field and the main character jumps into battle where the he/she fights and defeats the Earth Elemental.

Now there's another problem, when I finish writing the short story, I realize it's bad. When I tell the story inside my head, it's epic and amazing. But when I read what I've written, I scrap the paper and do something else instead. So in the end the only thing that I can show you is this image I made of the Earth elemental.
